Se e.e. cummings avesse avuto Facebook, avrebbe fatto FLAME A MANNA (come mi ha insegnato a dire Ale Pig).
All’epoca non avrà avuto il profilo intasato di gattini, ma comunque ha dovuto combattere parecchio per includere questa poesia piena di nigger e kike (ebrei) nella raccolta Xaipe: Seventy-One Poems del 1950.
Il suo editore (un Saverio Tommasi dell’epoca) sudava freddo all’idea di pubblicare cose così politically un-correct, ed infatti questa poesia ha dato origine ad una querelle sui toni del “ma sarà razzista?” “ma sarà antisemita?” “ma ci starà prendendo tutti in giro?”.
Pare che e.e. cummings si mostrò piuttosto sorpreso delle accuse e disse qualcosa del tipo:
